  COP21 Tree Planting event in Malaysia

In the lead-up to the 21st COP in Paris, a tree planting event was held on 7th November 2015, in Forest Compartment 73, Raja Musa Forest Reserve. Over 400 volunteers took part in the event, planting 360 tree saplings in degraded peatland areas. Volunteers comprised school students, corporate partners, government staff, several ambassadors and embassy staff.  The event was officiated by Selangor State Executive Councillor for Tourism, Environment, Green Technologies and Consumer Affairs, the Honourable Madam Elizabeth Wong; and attended by His Excellency Ambassador Luc Vandebon, Head of European Union Delegation to Malaysia; Dr. Mohd Puat bin Dahalan, Director of Selangor State Forestry Department; Professor Ali, Global Environment Centre (GEC) Board Member and Mr. Faizal Parish, GEC Director.

An extended visit was also organised for media representatives who were brought to Sungai Sireh Homestay in Tanjung Karang, Selangor.  Some of the coverage can be read/watched here:
