    HomePeatlands in SEACambodia

  Cambodia

Cambodia is a country bordered on three sides by Thailand, Laos and Vietnam respectively.

Peat has not been recorded in the country, but some may exist in the regions near the Mekong river.

The peat conservation project here is supported through the SEApeat project, funded by the European Union. Key activities here are training of personnel who are able to conduct peat assessment and the assessment itself.

Supported by the project, the country component has also translated the ASEAN Peatland Management Strategy into the local language. This is hoped to enable more local counterparts to understand and take part in the implementation of peatland conservation measures in the country.
