KUCHING: Cloud seeding conducted over parts of Sarawak from Tuesday has failed to induce the much-needed rain to clear the choking haze.

Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr George Chan said a Royal Malaysian Air Force Hercules aircraft flew twice yesterday at 11am and 3.30pm over Kuching, Sri Aman, Samarahan, Mukah and Kapit.

He said the absence of clouds made it difficult to carry out the exercise and the aircraft returned without doing anything.

Dr Chan, who is also the State Disaster and Relief Management Committee chairman, said the exercise would continue for the next few days until rain was induced.

He warned of more hazy days to come in view of the dry weather forecast over the next two weeks for Borneo.
