Description: A bushfire occured on Tasmania's west coast, Australia, with underlying peat soil.

Firefighters expect it will take weeks to put out a bushfire burning at Zeehan on Tasmania's west Coast.

The fire started on Friday and has burnt out 3,200 hectares of scrub and button grass.

Incident controller Greg Butters says the remote nature of the fire and the fact it is burning in button grass plains makes it hard to contain.

"It does take a while to extinguish - it burns across the top and underneath and into the peat so if we find hot spots they will have to dig them out by hand and the remote area guys will have to work hard at that and extinguish those," he said.

Most other fires in Tasmania are contained.
