Theme: Objectives

To have an overview of ongoing research in peatland ecology, including community ecology (vegetation, soil organisms), carbon balance, palaeoecology, hydrology, microbial communities and soil functioning.

To understand the current challenges related to the management of peatlands: restoration projects, policy, dialogue with local communities and stakeholders

To discuss between scientists and peatland managers about the current research needs from the management and policy perspective.

To define emerging themes at the frontier between fundamental and applied research on peatlands.

Keynote presentations by leading researchers and stakeholders in the field.

Presentations of posters by meeting participants.

General roundtables and synthesis of the themes addressed during the workshop

Location : University of Neuchâtel, Faculty of Humanities, Espace Louis-Agassiz 1 (click on number 18 on the map to get directions), 2000 Neuchâtel, auditorium R.N.02 (ground floor) 

Registration fee : free for master and PhD students. CHF 25 for all other participants

ECTS : 0.5 (attendance only), 1.0 (poster presentation) (Scientific activities)

Evaluation : Active participation

Travel expenses : participants of the Interuniversity doctoral program in organismal biology are eligible for reimbursement of incurred travel expenses by train (half-fare card, and 2nd class).
