The Workshop

This workshop is jointly organised by the ASEAN Secretariat and the Global Environment Centre (GEC) in conjunction with the Ministry of Environment of the Government of Indonesia and the Riau Provincial Government - as part of the ASEAN Peatland Forests Project (APFP). The workshop aims to bring together experts from the region to discuss and explore the options for implementing carbon financing to support conservation and rehabilitation of the sites and for the benefit of local stakeholders involved in peatland management.

To meet the aims of the meeting, we will be inviting a broad range of stakeholders including: International carbon fund managers; national and local government institutions Researchers; NGOs/ CBOs; Donors and International organisations.

Expected Outputs

The expected outputs from this meeting are:

- Sharing the current status of Carbon financing for peatlands in Se Asia
- Identification of appropriate carbon financing mechanisms and modality specifically for sites in Se Asia

Summary Report and Recommendations

The workshop was successfully held with more than 100 participants from 14 countries. The Summary Report and Recommendations is available for download now, presentations and proceedings will be made available soon.
